Honour Your Heroes - Lexie Noone

Tuesday, 06 September, 2016

In 2016, we celebrate the fifth year of the Honour Your Heroes reception at Beaumont Hospital. As is the case every year, we were given the unique opportunity to hear the often very raw and emotion-filled tales of what caused some of our former patients to need the help of Beaumont Hospital and its staff. Its always so refreshing for us to hear how this hospital has helped them, to visibly see what it means to them and to witness the encouragement and delight it gives to members of staff and teams that are singled out for thanks. Seven patients, representing some of the medical specialities housed in Beaumont, took part this year.

Two yr old Lexie Noone from Killnamannagh in Tallaght became profoundly deaf as a result of an infection she developed as a newborn. Lexie had a hearing aid fitted at seven months but over the next year and a half she became profoundly deaf. She had a bi-lateral cochlear implant fitted earlier this year and thanked the team of the Cochlear Implant Programme in Beaumont Hospital and in particular, Speech & Language Therapist, Jenny Robertson.
